Originally instrumental, this song was written as more of a tribute to a poem by Matt McDonald. Eventually, lyrics were crafted to mirror and expand upon that poem, and were added to the song. This song, like many others, has evolved considerably along its lifetime. This one in particular, can be heard live in one of two different tunings, and may or may not include a slow, improvised blues-jazzy introduction prior to the signature six beats that cue the start of the song.
